L'HEURE VIDE HUMANITAIRE - Venezuelan refugees

While travelling through South America by car we crossed the border of Ecuador and Colombia in Rumichaca. There we saw so many Venezuelan refugees in such great misery without the help they needed, that we decided to stay. We started this NGO, and have been working together succesfully with local and international organizations to give them the help they need. Please visit us at: www.lheurevidehumanitaire.orgInstagram: L'HEURE VIDE humanitaire L’HEURE VIDE humanitaire is a small network-based NGO focused on short-term projects in emergency situations involving refugee issues worldwide. Our approach is to assist existing humanitarian aid structures and local associations and to supplement them when their opportunities to act are limited or restraint. Our aim is not to direct or to implement. We are there to help. This approach ensures that we can focus on what is needed on the ground and in the now to fill the gaps in aid left by big organizational structures and complex international policy. Help fund a cochlear implant surgery for 18 month old baby

Raising a funding campaign as I came across the story of Marc Alexander, 18 month baby boy born in Haiti and diagnosed bilaterally deaf (both ears). Long story short, Haiti does not have the proper medical infrastructure and the government support to help this little boy get a cochlear implant surgery that would give him the ability to hear and speak. The longer he waits to get the implant, the more irreversible speech and development delay will occur. This would cost USD 30,000 including a trip abroad to get the surgery done (I myself have done research for my daughter and no kidding, it really cost that much). I spoke to his mother who didn't know what to do and who to turn to, and I felt the need to help them. As a French national and a Hong Kong resident , and as a mother of a 6 months deaf baby myself, my family is fortunate enough to have access to the best-in-class health support, excellent medical care and infrastructure ...and this is all (or almost) FREE!! We tend to forget how lucky we are. This little boy does not share our luck. Please take some time to read his story, DONATE and SHARE THIS POST to help him get access to a cochlear implant surgery, this amazing, life changing technology that will give him back the gift of hearing and speech.Carine Story of Marc Alexandre: Hello everyone. We are Kamaïa and Darlin Jeanty, parents of 18 months old Marc-Alexandre. We live Haiti, one of the most under-developed country in the world. We suspected the deafness of our son when he was 2 months and a half, as he was not reacting to sound. Due to lack of medical resources and infrastructure in Haiti, we were unable to obtain a diagnosis right away. When Marc-Alexandre turned 12 months old, we had been recommended to have him checked out in Republic Dominican. Without a second of hesitation, we took out all of our savings and bought a flight for the 3 of us to go meet an ENT specialist there. The results were devastating: Marc-Alexandre was diagnosed bilaterally deaf (both ears). We were not sure what to do or where to turn. We do not know if he would ever say, "I love you Mommy and Daddy." We have prayed for a happy, productive life for Marc-Alexander, and we want him to go to school and someday graduate from university to pursue a career and a life that he chooses. The ENT was adamant that our son needed cochlear implants; Implanting Marc will give him access to sound which will provide him with the only chance of age-appropriate speech and language development. This will provide him the opportunity to a better education and independent employment as an adult in the future. If not implanted, it may lead to permanent changes in the auditory cortex in the brain which may make it impossible to benefit from a cochlear implant or any form of hearing restoration surgery in the future. The cochlear implant bypasses the damaged portions of the ear and directly stimulates the auditory nerve. The signals are generated by the implant and are sent passed the auditory nerve to the brain where the signals are recognised as sounds. However, the cochlear implants will cost USD$30,000 as we do not have insurance and there is no government social subsidy or help of any kind. We are raising money to pay for medical expenses including surgery, cochlear implant device, and a trip abroad for the surgery.Marc is growing up and as his parents; we know we have to do something. The only future for our son is to hear with cochlear implants. Just like everyone else, we want to give him the best possible future there is.Life is so precious and this innocent boy who deserves the right to live normally. In advance, we extend our heartfelt thanks for your incredible moral and financial support. Thank you for helping us change the life of our child. Kamaïa and Darlin Jeanty

Marco & Thijs - Bike4Kika

All, This summer (4th August) myself and my son Thijs will be biking ~1000km from Oberrieden, Switzerland to Schagen, the Netherlands. We will be following the river Rhein all the way to the Netherlands. We aim to complete the bike tour in 10 days. We are doing this to raise money for child cancer research. Reason we are doing this is that a little over a year Thijs’s grandad passed away from cancer. I also had cancer and was lucky enough to survive, as such we want to do what we can to help other people that have cancer. Every little bit helps. All the money donated will go 100% to KIKA, which has been set up in 2002 to fund innovative research for Child Cancer. Treatments have significantly improved but still 1 in 4 children, diagnosed with cancer dies. The charity’s aim is to increase the survival rate of children suffering from cancer from 75% to 95% by 2025. They aim to do this by funding scientific research, improving treatments (less pain, higher cure rate and improved quality of life), concentrating expertise and treatment for children to accelerate experience. We hope you want to support with us this cause as no one especially not a child, should have to die from cancer. Thank you!Thijs & Marco

Hello I am Fatima from Iran, a 3rd year pharmacy student at Semmelweis University. Unfortunately I lost my father which was our family's main income provider and with this pandemic situation everything went out of control and my mother can not support me financially anymore. We are suddenly unable to provide the additional funds I'll need for finishing my studies abroad. I am devastated and helpless and am using my last option to fulfill my career. It is my sincere wish to attend university this fall and that is in jeopardy now.Your help and support would mean a world to me and it would change my life completely.Thank youFatemeh

Natasha's Atlantic Dream

Natasha's Atlantic Dream

Hello everyone & welcome to this money pot! Hello everyone, Our daughter Natasha is 21 and has quadraplegic athertoid cerebral palsy which affects all her limbs and speech. We are incredibly proud of Natasha, she requires lots of support from different equipment and technology to do things we take for granted, like sitting and standing, talking and writing..,, she needs help 24 hrs a day every day, but despite all her challenges she has an amazing personality, she is such a happy young lady with a love of life, and dreams of adventure! In order to fulfill Natasha's dreams and hopes for the future our family and friends work hard to support and enable her, not just in her everyday life but with her passion for the sea and sailing! Sailing has completely changed Natasha's life....Natasha has been sailing a specially adapted boat for 6 years now, the boat is sailed by mouth using a sip puff system desinged by Natashas Dad Gary. Natasha has sailed all over the UK Ireland and to France, and raised over £60,000 for charities, as she really loves to be usefull and found fundraising is such a great way not just to meet people but also to be able to help others- something that for someone with Natasha's limited physical capabilities is fantastic, . Natasha has not just found a sport she loves and can fully participate and compete in but can use her sport to inspire others and, a career fundraising! In 2019 Natasha is hoping to take on the ultimate challenge and sail across The Atlantic Ocean! The challenge start date is 24th November 2019 and Natasha is due to join the startline of The ARC Transatlantic Race. We have secured a boat, a 46 ft Catamaran, but now we need it to have it specially adapted, we have a long list of jobs and equipment that is required to enable to live and sail the boat which is estimated to cost in excess of £150,000! To date a few companies have said they would help with some materials which is fantastic, but we still have a long list.... So we are looking for help and support.... The boat needs to be ready by the end of April, so Natasha can carry out the necessary training before the Challenge date. We are looking for donations towards the boats conversion and to complete the project. If you would like any further information and to become involved in this project we would greatly appreciate your help. We can be contacted through the website at www.missisle.com This is a toally unique and extremely exciting project, with lots of 1st's.We will be posting updates and blogs for you to follow..... Natasha says 'I will be the first person to sail across the Atlantic by sip-pufftechnology which means I sail by a single straw in my mouth. I want to demonstrate whats possible with great teamwork and I hope many more able and disabled people will be inspired to follow their dreams' Please help Natasha cross the Atlantic Ocean -by making a donation! Support for Aelfin Michel

Support for Aelfin Michel

Aelfin Michel - Critical Condition - Hua Hin, ThailandSadly, on December 31st, Aelfin tragically crashed on a motorbike causing him to suffer severe head and face trauma. Aelfin is currently in ICU under 24 hours medical care and constant support. When Aelfin arrived in emergency he required immediate surgery to remove bleeding on the brain and had part of his skull removed, which will need to be replaced with titanium. His jaw and teeth were severely smashed which will require surgery, as well as other serious facial and head injuries. Unfortunately this is a very critical situation. Due to the severity of his head injuries he has had many operations to date and requires many more, plus 24 hours support and months (if not years) of therapy. The latter is not yet known as we are currently taking it day by day, knowing that each day is a miracle. Aelfin is a fighter and at every set back he is fighting to stay here with us. For those that know him will know his determination and stubbornness. This trait is shining through in his fight for his life. This gives us hope. Holding onto this hope and knowing that Aelfin will keep on fighting, there is a long and very expensive battle ahead of us. He requires many more surgeries, and unfortunately at this stage, we are unsure of the extent of damage and rehabilitation required. We urgently ask all of you to help support Aelfin and his mother, Emma, with the extensive ongoing medical costs and medical care that Aelfin needs now and for the coming months. ALL of the funds donated will be used to cover Aelfin's hospital bills, medical and rehabiliation expenses. We would like to express our gratitude for your kind donations to the SUPPORT AELFIN FUND. Best regards,Aelfin's support team

VAO BUNGALOW, an ecotourism project to support an isolated community in Vanuatu

VAO BUNGALOW, an ecotourism project to support an isolated community in Vanuatu

Scroll down for english version Bienvenue sur notre cagnotte solidaire ! English version VAO BUNGALOW : An ecotourism project for an isolated community in Vanuatu Welcome to our fundraising! Our project aims to support and help the development of our community of Vao, a small village in Vanuatu, through implementing an ecotourism structure to welcome foreign travellers including a traditional bungalow, a local restaurant, and several authentic tourist activities. Vanuatu is a country situated in the Pacific and composed of 83 islands where more than a hundred of indigenous languages are used every day, and where live a generous and smiling population of nearly 300.000 habitants, strong of an ancestral custom culture. More than 80% of the population lives in rural areas, very few developed and almost independent. Other 20% moved to towns, where a monthly salary is about 250 Euros and where the cost of living is extremely high, causing vulnerability to goods consumption, poorness, and loss of cultural identity. Therefore, Vanuatu is the country the most exposed to natural disasters in the world (cyclones, volcanic activity and earthquakes every year) and where visible effects of climate change such as erosion, sea rising, or fresh water access for example. This forces populations to adapt their lifestyle and increase dependency to international aids. Our community of Vao lives in a traditional way at the north-east of Malekula island, and represent over one hundred people, including over 40% of children under 15 years old.We are three project managers to represent this community, but every man and woman Vao is concerned about the project. Violaine, daughter of the chief of the tribe, has a diploma in Management of Tourism units from the university of Port Vila; Pierre, her husband, is an agronomic engineer and chairman of a consultant office working to develop organic and sustainable agriculture; and Cecilia, who the community adopted through custom, is a consultant in environment and health. The goal of this project is to create local micro economy allowing families of Vao to provide their essentials needs: school fees for the children, health costs, and the few materials and supplies than cannot be produced locally.School fees are the main outcome of the population of Vanuatu, and education of future generation is the most important issue of this beautiful country. In the grip of climate change and modification of lifestyle caused by globalisation, the country gradually suffer from the loss of cultural marks, accumulation of plastic waste and degradation of public health. Moreover, strong climate change forces the population of Vanuatu who has always been independent with food and building materials to look for solutions from outside and then depend on money: use of more resistant and sustainable materials to face cyclones getting stronger and stronger (cement, iron framework); and purchase of basic needs like rice, flour or water to survive to regular droughts over six months or climate disasters.Tourism is the main income of Vanuatu and tourist activities is developing fast. However, tourism has grown small in Malekula island, despite of two domestic airports and good road infrastructure. Reason is the lack of accommodations to welcome tourists because the locals don’t have the money to build them. However this island has plenty attractive features: white sand beaches, conserved underwater reefs, green and protected nature, cultural and traditional know-how. Tourism brings income to local communities and allows transmission of ancestral and custom knowledge to the visitors who come to witness it. But tourism which is badly managed can end up with a deterioration of landscapes and lifestyles. And so comes our project: instead of asking funds to support development of our community, we chose to insure a long-term income to support local and ancestral know-how like traditional cooking, custom dances, or natural carving and weaving for example. The families will then use this income to cover their basics needs (and stay living on their lands). Finally, building and managing this ecotourism structure will aim to lead example and can be used as a starting point to other similar projects around the country. This is why we have made this supporting fundraising: to ask you to help us gathering money, to allow this project to become real and help population of Vanuatu to keep their quality of living and lifestyle. On a long term basis, we can also develop resilience to face climate hazards in this fragile environment. Thanks to everyone for your help to build this ecotourism project and to support our community !
